STANDARD TREATMENT is a drug called Anabuse. It works as a deterrent by making you violently ill if you ingest alcohol in any form. One downside is that you can have a severe reaction if you accidently drink alcohol, for example, in cough syrup.
SUGGESTION: ALCOHOLICS SHOULD USE HOMEOPATHIC SOLUTIONS IN A WATER BASE (RATHER THAN ALCOHOL).
NATURAL ALTERNATIVES: an herbal remedy called Kudzu and a homeopathic remedy called Nux vomica work remarkably well in quelling alcoholic tendencies without side effects according to Dr. Lynne Walker in The Alternative Pharmacy.
