LYME DISEASE: a flu like bacterial infection induced by the bite of an infected black- legged tick. The cause is clear cut, but the diagnosis is difficult. The complaints of people with Lyme disease tend to change from day to day. The patient can feel great one day and wretched the next. The illness is liable to be misdiagnosed or to be branded as "psychological." The clearest early sign, a bull's eye-shaped rash appearing within weeks of the tick bite, is often missed; and other symptoms of the condition imitate other diseases, including chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. Early symptoms of Lyme disease include muscle and joint aches and swelling, headache, stiff neck, overwhelming fatigue, fever, facial paralysis (Bell's palsy), meningitis, and less commonly - eye problems and heart abnormalities. Late-stage symptoms include intermittent or chronic arthritis and neurological conditions such as confusion and memory loss.

DRUG TREATMENT: Standard drug treatment consists of a month-long course of intravenous antibiotics, which must sometimes be repeated. But IV antibiotic treatment can be quite disruptive and toxic to the body, so doctors caution that it should be used only when the case is advanced and the diagnosis is definitive. The problem is the difficulty of diagnosis. If you are misdiagnosed, you may be subjected to quite toxic drugs for the wrong underlying condition.
HOMEOPATHY: In many cases where no conventional medicines have worked, the condition was resolved with the series therapy Borrelia Remedy. There are 10 vials (numbered 1 to 10) in a box, which are taken every three days for a month. Take the entire vial labeled "1" on day one. Three days later take the entire contents of vial "2", and so on for a month. If, upon further testing another box of 10 is warranted, have the client take the vials in reverse order (10 to 1) every three days. If further help is needed, dilutions of 1M or 10M are available which should generally be administered one vial, one time to the client.
As is typical of homeopathic treatment, the symptoms tend to get worse before they get better (the healing crisis), but then symptoms generally disappear permanently.
PREVENTIVE MEASURES: If tick-infested areas can't be avoided, you should: 1. Protect arms and legs with long sleeves and pants tucked into socks or boots. 2. Use insect repellents.
